Kilimanjaro Park Fees

Everything You Need to Know

Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro is a dream adventure for many, but understanding the park fees is essential for planning your trip effectively. Each climber is required to pay mandatory fees that contribute to the maintenance, conservation, and operation of Kilimanjaro National Park. These fees include conservation, camping, rescue, and crew fees. For the Lemosho and Rongai routes, special forest fees also apply.

Beware of Misleading Information

Unfortunately, some unethical tour operators may provide misleading information regarding Kilimanjaro park fees. Be cautious of any claims that suggest it is possible to climb Mount Kilimanjaro without paying these fees by bypassing ranger posts. This is impossible as there are multiple checkpoints along the routes where permits are checked. Attempting to avoid these fees can result in serious legal consequences, including fines, deportation, or even imprisonment.

Breakdown of Kilimanjaro Park Fees

The total cost of the park fees depends on the duration of your climb and route. Below are the main components:

  1. Conservation Fees – $70 per trekker per day, charged for every day spent inside the park.
  2.  Camping Fees – $50 per trekker per night for all routes except Marangu.
  3. Hut Fees – $60 per trekker per night (Marangu Route only).
